Description

Managing numerous TVs across studios is a daunting task, especially when each display requires specific settings and calibration. Traditional methods of adjustment are often inadequate at scale, leading to inconsistencies and inefficiencies. This paper describes the partnership between LG and Disney to address these challenges by developing an API and application for large-scale TV management. LG’s firmware now includes a websocket-based API that enables secure network control of picture settings, allowing both adjustments and monitoring of display parameters. Disney has created a proprietary CLI and web-based interface to interact with these displays from a central server, enhancing both usability and security. The system also features profiles that streamline switching between settings for different productions and identify deviations from desired settings. This approach simplifies maintaining consistent TV settings, reducing support calls and downtime.
