Day has been a key figure in the Section, collaborating with two long-term chairs and a wide range of board members. He is driven by a strong desire to support local members and ensure the Region’s longevity and growth. Day has helped the Section address the challenges in membership relevance, the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the two-time reinvention of the MET Expo.

Currently Telstra’s Head of Product Management for Professional Media and SMPTE Regional Governor for APAC, Michael Day is a seasoned technical leader with decades of experience in television technology, digital media, cloud solutions and telecommunications. Michael spends his time engaging with customers, driving Telstra’s professional media product strategy, supporting Telstra Broadcast Services deliver professional media solutions and connecting with the industry through SMPTE. Throughout his carrier in free-to-air television, subscription television, and telecommunications, Michael has focused on technical solutions for the creation and delivery live and event-based media.
