The Journal Certificate of Merit

In addition to the Journal Awards, up to two Journal Certificates may be presented to the author(s) of other outstanding paper(s) from the preceding calendar year.

For the paper, "Pixel Value Adjustment to Reduce the Energy Requirements of Display Devices," published in the August 2023 issue of the Motion Imaging Journal, Vol 132, No. 7.

Erik Reinhard works at InterDigital since June 2019. His current interests are around reducing the energy cost of media systems. He was founder and editor-in-chief of ACM Transactions on Applied Perception, and authored several books on topics including high dynamic range imaging and color imaging. His academic presence involves co-authoring more than 100 scientific papers, membership of more than 50 program committees, co-chairing of 6 conferences and workshops, and delivering 6 key-notes. In standardization he is co-chair of the ITU-R rapporteur group on energy aware broadcasting and the DVB working group on energy efficiency. He is recognized as contributor to the Emmy-award winning standard on high dynamic range imaging, ITU-R BT.2100.
