Honoree Bio
Brian Quandt received a software engineering degree from University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee as well as an honorary advanced degree from Missouri S&T. Quandt has been an important participant in many industry and international standards for SMPTE and was a significant contributor to the Emmy-winning ISO/IEC’s MPEG standards. Brian is an accomplished entrepreneur and leader having developed dailies, conversion, stereoscopic and encoding technologies used on numerous feature films including Casino Royale, Underworld, 2012 and many others. Quandt has also expressed a passion for art, and has collaborated with numerous world renowned video artists on a variety of projects at the Guggenheim NYC, Music Center Los Angeles and the iconic Millennium Project at the Crown Plaza in Chicago. Brian has also recently put his interest in human and environmental causes via Act Local Festivals–a movement designed to connect local cinemas with film festivals, technology experts and creators around the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals to make a better world.
