Description

In the transition from traditional Serial Digital Interface (SDI) to IP-based infrastructures, the broadcast industry has embraced the SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards that specify the carriage, synchronization, and description of separate elementary essence streams over IP for real-time production. This migration promises greater flexibility and scalability, but it also exposes production facilities to a broader array of cybersecurity threats previously confined to IT domains. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive, holistic security framework for SMPTE ST 2110 production environments, drawing on the latest industry standards and European Broadcasting Union (EBU) guidance. The objective of this paper is to ensure that the benefits of IP-based media production can be realized without compromising on security, resilience, or operational integrity.
