In the history of presenting video plus audio tests and demonstration materials, static video test patterns have played an important role in providing us with much of what is needed for setting up and or evaluating the capability of display systems. Along the way we’ve encountered situations where people want to see ‘normal’ program content used as evaluation materials instead of test patterns. We’ve learned a lot about producing content that puts the peddle to the metal, in Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) as well as in a High Dynamic Range (HDR). We’re now developing new motion test signals to better evaluate what we are seeing in the program content we created.
