Jimmy Fournier was appointed Director General, Technologies at the NFB in 2022, after serving for eight years as Director, Research and Development, Engineering and Digital Platforms. More than 21 years earlier, he had joined the organization as an engineer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, is a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ). With extensive experience in the audiovisual sector, Jimmy Fournier has played a leading role in conceptualizing and operationalizing the NFB’s processes for digitizing, restoring, making accessible, and preserving its productions. More recently, he made a significant contribution to selecting and implementing the technologies used at the NFB’s new downtown Montreal head office and at the conservation and digitization facility in Saint-Laurent.
