Bill Baggelaar is a Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award–winning executive and industry visionary with over 25 years of leadership driving digital transformation across global media and entertainment enterprise environments. As former Executive Vice President & Chief Technology Officer of Technology Development at Sony Pictures Entertainment, he spearheaded studio-wide technology strategies, pioneering cloud-based production systems, global content supply chains, virtual production, and immersive media formats (4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos).
Throughout his executive career across Sony Pictures Entertainment and Warner Bros., Bill has consistently established new benchmark standards for content creation and distribution. He built the world's highest-resolution LED virtual production stage at Sony Innovation Studios, engineered cloud editorial platforms (integrated into Sony's Ci Media Cloud as Ci Workflow), and architected VISOR, the studio's digital media supply chain blueprint. His leadership extended to the restoration of historic Technicolor classics (including The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind) and pioneering early non-linear editing systems and 4K file-based mastering pipelines.
A recognized authority in industry standardization and global governance, Bill has served as Co-Chair of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) SciTech Council, Co-Chaired the AMPAS ACES Project (Academy Color Encoding System), and co-author of the landmark MovieLabs 2030 Vision white paper ('The Evolution of Media Creation'). Today, Bill serves as President of the UHD Alliance, leads agentic AI and cloud supply chain initiatives with the Entertainment Technology Center (ETC@USC), and advises high-growth media technology startups on go-to-market strategy and commercialization.
