SMPTE deeply values the contributions and expertise of our Volunteers in helping to produce quality events!  We are currently seeking Volunteers for the SMPTE Media Technology Summit, including Full Day and Half Day positions.

  • Complimentary Conference Registration - Volunteers working a half-day shift receive a complimentary conference registration for that day.  Volunteers working a full-day shift receive a complimentary registration for an additional day of their choice.
     
  • Meals During the Conference - All Volunteers working during the Conference will have access to food and beverage during their day(s) of attendance. This includes continental breakfast, coffee breaks, Wednesday lunch, and Welcome Reception. Those working a full day shift on a day where lunch is not provided will be reimbursed up to $10 for lunch. Please note that the Awards Gala is not included in Volunteer registration, but tickets may be purchased.
     
  • Parking Reimbursement - SMPTE will reimburse parking at a maximum rate of $20 per day for Full-Day Volunteers on the day of their Volunteer shift.
     
  • Networking - Volunteering adds an extra layer of networking to your conference experience as you work with and assist your colleagues during the event.
     
  • Give Back to the Industry - By volunteering, you'll be contributing your knowledge and expertise to help enhance the experience of new and seasoned attendees of SMPTE's flagship event.

Available Volunteer Positions Include:

  • Speaker Ready Room Coordinator

    This role manages the Speaker Ready room throughout the day, monitoring access to the space, assisting Speakers, and supporting PowerPoint and Speaker Coordinators.
     

  • PowerPoint Staging Coordinator / Speaker Coordinator
    This role works in the Speaker Ready Room, assisting Speakers in checking their presentations and coordinating any updates with the Tech Desk in the Session Room. They also coordinate speakers for each session in their assigned room, making sure they are all present and assisting with any needs.
     
  • Room Leader/Stage Manager (full day position)
    This role remains in their assigned Session Room, assisting Speakers with microphones and assisting Session Chairs with on stage seating and lighting in the room when necessary. Full-week volunteers preferred for this position.
     
  • SMPTE Store / Membership Booth Assistant
    This role assists in the SMPTE Store / Membership Booth in setting up and selling merchandise, collecting donations, and speaking to current and potential members about their membership experience and its benefits.
     
  • Badge Scanners / Door Monitors
    This role assists in scanning attendee badges at the Session Room doors and directing anyone without the proper access to the Registration Desk for assistance. This role also monitors entrance to the Solutions Hub (exhibits), making sure that all entrants are wearing a SMPTE Summit badge, and that only Exhibitors enter the space before open hours.
     
  •  Awards Gala Production Assistants (full day position - Thursday, Oct 24)
    This role assists our producers from Homerun Entertainment on the day of the Gala, helping to facilitate presenter rehearsals and prepare for the event in the evening. (full day position)
     
  • Awards Gala Will-Call (Thursday, Oct 24)
    This role assists in the checking in of guests, presenters, and honorees at the entrance to the Awards Gala. Volunteers in this position may also assist with preparations prior to check-in, including setup of the Gala registration and packing of items for outbound shipping from the conference.
     
  • Floating Volunteers
    This role will assist our Volunteer Chair, Andrew Stucker, and will fill-in where needed during their shift.
