Gregory Jbara Hosting the 2025 SMPTE Gala
Gregory Jbara is thrilled to be hosting the 2025 SMPTE Gala having just finished directing the feature film version of Adam Seidel’s off-Broadway play Original Sound (2026). As an actor Mr. Jbara enjoyed 15 seasons as DCPI Garrett Moore on the CBS police drama Blue Bloods. Film credits include portraying Senate Hearing Chairman Magnuson in Christopher Nolan’s Oscar winning Oppenheimer, Buck/Hector Squiggles in Caleb Brill’s A Ramble Towards Rain directed by Lisa Angell (currently streaming on AppleTV), Snug the Joiner in Michael Hoffman’s screen adaptation of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Walter Brackett in Paul Rudnick’s In & Out directed by Frank Oz. Mr. Jbara won the 2009 Tony Award©, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award® for Featured Actor in a Musical as ‘Dad’ in Billy Elliot the musical, directed by Stephen Daldry with musical score by Elton John. Honorees
This year, 12 honors will be bestowed upon 35 individuals and organizations. Among these is the supreme accolade of the Society, Honorary Membership, which recognizes individuals who have performed eminent service in the advancement of engineering in motion pictures, television, or in the allied arts and sciences, counting the likes of Thomas Edison, George Eastman, Samuel L. Warner, David Sarnoff, Walt Disney, Ray Dolby, George Lucas, Richard Edlund, James Cameron, and Peter Jackson among its ranks.
