Julius Tschannerl began his career in 2005 as a freelance TV editor in Munich, Germany, before transitioning into the field of computer science in 2008, with a particular focus on image processing and computer graphics. He earned his PhD in Image Processing from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland in 2019, specializing in hyperspectral imaging for food quality and safety applications.
Building on this expertise, Julius spent four years in California developing non-invasive optical systems for food quality monitoring, leveraging advanced spectroscopy and imaging technologies. In 2023, he returned to his media production roots by joining FilmLight, where he now works as a Research Engineer. At FilmLight, he focuses on developing machine learning–driven tools for color grading, combining his diverse background in science, imaging, and visual storytelling.
