Policies and Special Rates

SPECIAL RATES

Hardship: SMPTE is pleased to extend a discount to individuals who are currently unemployed, furloughed, or otherwise experiencing financial difficulties. To apply for the Hardship rate, please email events@smpte.org with your contact details and hardship situation.

Student: Non-Member Student registrations require verification. Current SMPTE Student Members are automatically verified; however Non-Member Students must provide a valid, current Student ID. Non-Members will also receive a complimentary one-year Student membership.

Early Career: This year, SMPTE will extend a limited number of half-price registrations for Early Career Professionals - individuals in the first five years of a career in the industry, a transition into the industry, or a new sector of the industry. To apply for this discount, please click here.

Educator: Educator registrations require proof of school affiliation and will undergo a verification / moderation process.

Volunteer Opportunities are also available and include complimentary registration for all or part of the conference, depending on level of participation.

DISCOUNT POLICY

Only one discount code may be used per registration on new registrations only. Registration discount codes (except for those provided as part of a Sponsor, Exhibitor, or Corporate Membership package) are not valid on Speaker*, or Exhibitor* registrations. Discounts apply to registration packages only and not additional special event tickets. Cannot be applied to existing registrations.

*Complimentary registration discounts for Sustaining Members, Sponsors, or Exhibitors may be applied to any registration type.

 

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

A refund will be issued, less a 10% cancellation fee, for all paid registrations canceled by October 26, 2026. No refunds will be given for cancellation requests received after the deadline*; however, registrant substitutions may be made for a $25 fee plus any difference in Registrant Type pricing. Exhibit Staff substitutions may be made at no charge. New registrations received after the deadline are non-refundable.


* Refunds and cancellations related to international visa denials are not subject to this deadline and affected registrants will have their registration fees refunded in full. Please contact events@smpte.org for assistance.
